“For me, the one thing I notice in all accomplished riders is their persistence. When you ride you gain your own experience and knowledge. With each session you improve your skill set. Weather you end up re-rigging your kite because the wind shut down once, or you got out there and had to self rescue, that is all part of it, and part of improving your skills.”
Craig Bishop has kited for 8 years. He purchased his first kite in Montana, hours before shattering his leg skiing. He visualized kiting from the couch, and rehabbed with a vengeance. He then moved to La Ventana in Baja Mexico, where he was finally able to “really,” learn to kite, and where he ended up living and instructing for five winters.
Craig has lived, kited and taught in Hood River in the summers, for 7 years. As kiting has been such a part of his life, he finally bit the bullet and began Gorge Gradients Kiteboarding School, LLC, the spring of 2010. He has traveled the world to kite. He lives in Hood River in the summers with his wife, who also loves to kite, and his kids, who cant wait!
